where to buy used cars? auction places or towing companies?

Question by vikasintl: where to buy used cars? auction places or towing companies?
We know about craigslist but we want to try something else.
We heard about police auctions.
We heard that we can go to towing companies location and they have auctions.
Can you suggest in Tacoma city which are the best places to go to for car / auto auctions
and what is your advice before we can purchase car from auctions.
what should we be concerned about?
